Third Energy Summit opens in Amman

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources organized on April 2-3 in Amman, “Jordan’s third international energy summit” (JIES).

This year’s summit, which is being held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, include an international program of speakers from governments, international energy companies and experts*, and an international exhibition that allowed participating companies to present their projects and expertise. This gave Jordan the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies and products used in the energy sector.

The summit comes in the context of the Kingdom’s energy strategy, which in turn has made significant progress in several key projects specifically designed to preserve Jordan’s future energy.

The summit included meetings and discussions in key energy sectors including investment opportunities, mineral wealth, electricity projects, renewable energy, oil shale, nuclear power, oil and gas, mining and mineral exploration, investment environment and multi-billion dollar projects in Jordan and the region. Rosatom was the only foreign nuclear vendor that sponsored the event.

Highlights of the Summit include the energy mix in the Middle East, regional cooperation, public-private partnerships in the region, sustainable energy solutions for the Middle East, nuclear power as an energy solution, and focus on renewable energy projects in the Middle East. Including solar, wind and thermal energy.
