Russia expands in Kudankulam

India and Russia are planning to strengthen their civil nuclear Partnership and likely to sign the agreement for building the fifth and sixth nuclear reactors at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) this autumn.

According to Sergey Kiriyenko, Russia and India have already discussed and worked out on the agreement to build the fifth and sixth reactors at KudanKulam.

Unit 1&2 of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant are already generating almost 2000 MW electricity altogether for the country. The construction of unit 3&4 of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant has already started which has the capacity to generate 2100 MW electricity altogether for the country.

India is also planning to give Russia new sites likely in Andhra Pradesh for the construction of six nuclear power plants according to Russian design. It is expected to announce during BRICS in India on 15th of October.
