The Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, Alexei Likhachev, and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Donmez, held a working meeting at the construction site of Akkuyu NPP in the Turkish province of Mersin.

The parties reviewed the progress of the work, discussed the issues of localization of supplies and involvement of Turkish companies in the implementation of the project, the possibility of foreign investors entering the share capital of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, as well as the connection of Akkuyu NPP to the Turkish national power grid.

Rosatom is responsible for all stages of the life cycle of Akkuyu, from design and construction to maintenance and decommissioning. The objectives of this meeting were on the future operation of the plant, and its connection to the Turkish national grid.

During the visit, Akkuyu Nuclear JSC signed an EPC contract with Titan-2 IC Ictas Insaat A. The EPC contract provides for the implementation of a full cycle of work on the main part of the facilities of the future nuclear power plant, which allows a comprehensive approach to solving design problems, including design, engineering, equipment supply, quality control, and work safety, ensuring completion of construction on time.
