Roadmap of renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia

A report by the Saudi General Investment Authority (SAGIA) revealed that tenders for seven solar projects will be submitted by the middle of 2019.

The Investment Authority said in its report that the Office of Renewable Energy Projects Development had earlier issued invitations for seven solar projects with a total generating capacity of 1.51 GW. It is targeted to attract investments totaling $ 1.51 billion.

According to the Authority’s report, the Sakaka Solar and Domat Al-Jandal Wind Power Projects were awarded in 2018. The Renewable Energy Projects Development Office launched the second phase of the Renewable Energy Program in the Kingdom on January 29th, 2019.

The program aims to provide a power generation capacity of 25 GW of wind and solar energy in the next five years. More than 35 renewable power plants will be developed by 2030, according to the report of the Investment Authority.
