New opportunities in Nigeria-Russia relations

During the Russia-Africa Summit in Sochi, President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari announced new opportunities in Nigeria-Russia relations in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, solid minerals development, rail transportation, and military assistance. The partnership extended to the oil and gas sector.

President Buhari said the mutually beneficial relationship must go beyond trade and business to address challenges like counterterrorism, poverty eradication, human and drug trafficking, illicit financial flows, climate change, and migration.

President Vladimir Putin and African Union Chairman and President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, co-chaired the Russia-Africa Summit.
