Egypt will finish the construction of the Asyut power station by June

Mohamed Osama, CEO of the Authority for the Implementation of hydroelectric power plants projects in the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity, said that the project of the 32-megawatt Asyut power plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2018. That was during a meeting held between the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the leaders of the Authority for the implementation of hydroelectric power plants projects.

Mohammed Osama mentioned, that about 99% of the installations and tests have been completed at the plant, which consists of 4 units.

He stressed that, by operating the project, whose contract was laid on the French company Artelia in June 2017, about LE 100 million per year, which is the value of the operating fuel, will be saved. The total cost of the project contracts is about LE 1.2 billion equivalent to more than 68 million USD, that’s in addition to another 300 million USD.

He pointed out that the project is planned to be consisted of 8 units, 300 MW capacity each, in addition to the construction of a special water triple treatment station in the project.

Osama also indicated that the project of 2400 MW power plant using pumping and storage system in the area of ​Ataqa, which will be implemented in cooperation with the Chinese company Sinohydro, is one of the important and strategic projects for the electricity and renewable energy sector.
