Brazil starts the project of its first nuclear submarine

Amazul recently inaugurated its new headquarters in São Paulo, where activities related to Nuclear Industries of Brazil (INB) are developed. “They require a testing and training unit. Moreover, we are available for this, especially in such a delicate sector in Brazil, which is the tricky part of licensing, “Zanella revealed.

Amazul is a strategic defense company, linked to the Ministry of Defense and the Navy. It is developing the Submarine development program with Brazilian Nuclear Propulsion (SN-BR) and the Navy Nuclear Program.

Amazul finished the executive project and prepares with the Directorate General of Marine Nuclear and Technological Development the phase C. It is the detailed design phase, which has an estimated duration of two years.

Besides the projects with the Navy, Amazul is also very focused on the project of Brazilian Multipurpose Reactor (RMB), in partnership with the company Invap. The project will be completed by the end of this year, and the construction will begin next year. The social unfolding of the RMB is the part of radiopharmaceuticals, with the nuclear application in medicine.

Amazul plans to work on engineering projects in the lifetime extension of Angra 1 and also in the area of the National Repository of Low-Intensity Level, which is the responsibility of the CNEN National Nuclear Energy Commission.
