Barakah I, a joint venture between Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO), has obtained a power generation license from the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy.

The Energy Department is responsible for planning and setting the direction of the energy sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The license, which was issued to Barakah, is a major regulatory requirement before the start of operation of the Barakah nuclear power plants in the Dhafra area of ​​the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

“The production of electricity from nuclear power is one of the best options in the long term to produce safe, reliable and environmentally friendly electrical energy,” said “Awaidah Morshed Al Marar”, head of the Abu Dhabi Energy Department.
