Abdan and NEI sign MoU for the development of the Brazilian Nuclear Program

Last February, the Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activity (Abdan) and the United States Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) signed a memorandum of understanding for the expansion of the Brazilian Nuclear Program during the Brazil – United States Energy Forum in Rio de Janeiro. The memo’s focus is on cooperation in the development of new technologies in Brazil.

According to the president of Abdan, Celso Cunha, there is a process of rebuilding a supply chain in the Brazilian nuclear sector. The nuclear program is relaunched with the Angra 1 and 3 nuclear power plants, nuclear medicine projects, uranium mining, and agriculture.

For Maria Korsnick, CEO and president of NEI, the memorandum is a brilliant opportunity to have a stronger relationship among the two institutions. For her, the partnership will strengthen a vital partner in South America and will help to promote a clean source at the international level.
